WOODSTOCK — The Board of Selectmen voted Tuesday evening to appoint Paris Code Enforcement Officer Fred Collins as the town’s part-time code enforcement officer, Town Manager Vern Maxfield said Thursday.
The position had been in flux since Norway and Greenwood Code Enforcement Officer Joelle Whitman left the position in August 2014.
Bethel Code Enforcement Officer Jeff Warden served in the role for several months before stepping down.
Maxfield said that Collins would serve on a “part-time, trial basis” to start, with the potential to change at a later date.
In other business, the selectmen voted unanimously to install a sign next to a roadside spring on Route 26. Maxfield said residents stop there to fill containers with water.
“We’ve been getting some complaints from drivers at night, saying that when people park on the side of the road to fill up their containers, the headlights are blinding,” Maxfield said. “We had some residents request that we put a sign asking residents to turn off their lights when they’re filling up.”
Maxfield said that the town would be responsible for installing the sign.
