FARMINGTON — A Massachusetts man was sentenced Friday to serve 290 days for selling cocaine base in the Farmington area in 2013.

Taurus Allen, 36, of Boston pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of a schedule W drug in Franklin County Superior Court.

Allen was living in the Farmington area when Farmington Sgt. Edward Hastings IV conducted an investigation on the sale of cocaine and other illegal drugs in the area, according to an affidavit filed with the court.

The state dismissed a felony charge of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and criminal conspiracy in the plea agreement.

Allen has already served his 290 days and was given credit for time served, Assistant District Attorney Claire Andrews told the court. He was also ordered to pay a $400 fine by Nov. 1, 2016.

He is serving a sentence out of Kennebec County at Maine Correctional Center in Windham.

Allen said he is expected to be released no later than April 2016.
