Historical society lists speakers
LIVERMORE — The Livermore/Livermore Falls Historical Society has announced upcoming speakers who will present at regular meetings.
Crystal Williams, curator and tour director at the Nordica Museaum in Farmington, will be the guest speaker on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Her program will be on the opera diva Lillian Nordica.
Wayne Dimond will present a program on antique Portland Glass and Wildflower glass.
The public is invited to attend.
The Livermore/Livermore Falls Historical Society meets 1:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at George Bunten Post 10 American Legion Hall at 17 Reynolds Ave.
Health Center appearing at Apple Pumpkin Festival
LIVERMORE FALLS – Western Maine Family Health Center will sponsor a table at the Apple Pumpkin Festival at the Livermore Falls Recreational Field Saturday, Sept. 26.
All fair-goers are encouraged to stop by the health center’s table to meet staff members and receive health tips, giveaways and information about saving money on health care.

Sumner church Harvest Day planned
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner is hosting its annual Harvest Day and Barn Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the church yard, 50 Main St.
There will be baked goods, raffle and handcraft sale tables. A bean-hole bean and hot dog lunch will be served inside the church. Approximately 20 local crafters and vendors will be attending.
For the third year, there will be a collection box for new or good used blankets and children’s winter clothing for the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
The event will be held rain or shine. All proceeds from the church sale tables benefit the outreach of the church.

Memoir writing workshop slated
NEW VINEYARD — The New Vineyard Library will host a memoir writing workshop, “Writing Our Stories,” with presenter Elizabeth Cooke from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the Library Community Room. The workshop will focus on writing “the scene,” and participants will practice writing dialogue, using sensory details and narrative lines, along with exercises in point of view and time shifts.
New and experienced writers are welcome to come and write together. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Fee, $10. Seating is limited.

Mahoosuc Land Trust celebrating arts
BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust is looking for special photographs, original art works or written works that express the natural beauty of “Your Backyard, the Mahoosuc Region.” All entries will be displayed at a grand showing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Land Trust Office as part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend. Each of the categories has three age groups, Under 12, 13-18, and 19 and older.
