Right now, L/A and Portland are having different types of housing problems.
Portland has too little housing, which is driving the prices up beyond what a lot of people who work in Portland can afford. L/A on the other hand, due to it being a former mill town, has an abundance of housing at cheaper rates.
This is the time to explore a bus that goes straight from L/A to a central location in Portland and back. A study needs to be done for this, but the ballpark for one bus is $500,000, give or take $250,000, depending on what fuels the bus. The hourly cost needs to be researched as well, but ballpark is $200 an hour.
Maine’s infrastructure needs are expanding greatly. With the mills’ decreasing presence throughout Maine, we must move ourselves forward into our great state’s future, starting with better transportation.
