It isn’t often in life that you get to meet a genuine American hero. In Auburn’s Ward 1 City Council race, we have the opportunity to put one on the City Council.

A Maine kid from a hardscrabble background, Matt Leonard joined the Navy when he was 18. In his Navy career, Matt rose to the highest enlisted ranks. He served as an embedded corpsman with Marines in Iraq. Matt is intellectually curious — he has earned several degrees from associate’s to master’s, and understands first-hand the power of education to individuals and to Auburn.

Matt is the executive director of the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce. He’s committed to his community and his home state.

It isn’t often an American hero volunteers to serve on the Auburn City Council. Don’t miss the opportunity to vote for Matt Leonard for Ward 1.
