LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce is offering the L-A Lunch and Learn program, “Talking About Tobacco to Help Others Quit Smoking,” from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the chamber, 415 Lisbon St. It is free.

The program allows lay people to have confident conversations about quitting with co-workers, friends and family by knowing when and with whom to have these sensitive conversations. The more people who are engaged and supportive of a tobacco-free norm, and aware of how to access resources, the more likely it is that a tobacco user will find helpful resources to assist them in quitting.

Speakers will include Maureen Higgins, LCSW, the cancer health outreach educator with The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, and Emily Dooling, health promotion coordinator, tobacco prevention, Healthy Androscoggin.
