About 100 people gathered Sunday evening by the gazebo in Kennedy Park to take part in a candlelight vigil showing their support for the upcoming World Summit for Children to take place at the United Nations later this week. Some sat on benches, some stood in small groups, others knelt on blankets and a few stretched out on the tarred walkways, but all were there to make a statement. The summit is an international event that will draw together leaders from more than 60 nations, including the Soviet Union, to discuss the health and care of the world’s children.
