6 shops participating in ‘Shop Hop’

Six local shops will participate in a quilt Shop Hop from Saturday, Sept. 26, to Friday, Oct. 2.

Quilters can pick up their passport at the first shop they visit and drop their completed passport off at the last shop. Quilters can sign up for each in-house drawing and receive a free pattern.

The participating shops this year are North Woods Quilting in Wilson Mills; The Quilt Shop at the Rostay in Bethel; Kedar Quilts & Gallery in Waterford; Oxford Mill End Store in Oxford; Sew Orchid in Norway; and Fiber Arts Cottage in Bridgton.

During the Shop Hop, each quilt shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.

Sons of Italy to meet

RUMFORD — The regular meeting of the Sons of Italy will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.

A light lunch will be served.

Snowmobile club to meet

DIXFIELD — The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will hold its annual first meeting and cookout at 4 p.m. or after the Patriots game ends Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Sportsmen’s Clubhouse on the Canton Point Road.

The club will provide all the fixings, including burgers, dogs, salads and drinks.

All sledders and their families are welcome. New snowmobilers are welcome to enjoy the meal and and join the club.

New ideas for the upcoming season will be discussed during the meeting.

Rumford Island Housing to host final open house

RUMFORD — Rumford Island Housing will host its final open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30. 

Rumford Island Housing is an 88-unit apartment building that includes several wheelchair-accessible units, a newly furnished sunlit solarium, a large community room, on-site maintenance, on-site coin-op laundry facilities, on-site indoor mail delivery, elevator access to all floors and on-site trash facilities.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Wilton library turns 100

WILTON — The Wilton Free Public Library is turning 100!

Residents are welcome to attend a birthday party celebrating 100 years of the beautiful library building. Families are welcome to come to the library for some food and fun from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

There will be historical displays to look at, book-themed food, face painting and games and crafts for kids. Families can also enjoy fresh-pressed cider, observe rabbit fur being spun into yarn and watch a real beehive in action.
