WILTON — The Wilton Lions Club reminds people that a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used can change another person’s life. Throughout the year, Lions and other volunteers collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers. Volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. Most of the recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact.
People can drop off recyclable eyeglasses, sunglasses and safety glasses at the Wilton Lions collection boxes at the following locations:
Wilton: Wilton Hardware, Wilton Franklin Savings Bank, Wilton Food Pantry (Wilton Methodist Church) Wilton Key Bank, Wilton Lions Club Community Building (collection box is outside the front door), Ray Ray’s Cafe and Sweet Treats.
Weld: Skoolhouse Variety and Weld Public Library.
Farmington: Franklin Memorial Hospital (cafe).
The Wilton Lions Club also collects cell phones and hearing aids.
