TURNER — The Turner American Legion Post 111 sponsored two individuals to attend Boys State and two to attend Girls State.

The recipients for Boys State were Gage Machado and Nathanial Allen.

The recipients for Girls State were Liliana Cousineau and Hannah Varney.

The Turner Post 111 awarded two scholarships to the following recipients: Nichole Lake and Emily Miller.

All recipients are selected by Leavitt Area High School.

In order to qualify, a student must excel in the qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to their school and community.

The awards were presented on Aug. 23 at the home of Commander Ken Finley.
