1939 – 2016

AUBURN — Roger E. Robichaud, 76, of Sherwood Drive, died with his family by his side on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Clover Health Care Center where he resided for the past 15 months.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 26, 1939, a son of Ephrem and Alice Savard Robichaud. He was educated in Auburn at St. Louis Elementary School and graduated from St. Dominic’s High School in the Class of 1959.

He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1960s and was stationed in Germany. He served in the in the Maine Army National Guard for 22 years, retiring as an E-7.

Roger was a member of the Catholic church and was employed at Bath Iron Works and retired after 20 years in 2006.

He enjoyed music and was a member of the Scarlet Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. He also played drums in parades with the Lisbon Kitty Corner Band. Roger enjoyed bowling in his middle-age years and loved family gatherings.

Roger will be remembered for his love of his family and for making people laugh.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Claire N. Duprez, of Auburn, whom he married July 6, 1963; two sons, Randy Robichaud and wife, Karen, of Auburn, Rodney Robichaud of Auburn; grandchildren, Kasandra Mercier, Cameron Robichaud, Tyler and Trevor Robichaud; great-grandchildren, Alexia and Shaleigh Mercier; nephew, Stanley Crockett; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law Lauretta Duprez.

The family wishes to extend a heartwarming thank-you to the staff at Clover Manor and Beacon Hospice for their professionalism and genuine care for Roger.
