Recently, Kora Shriners hosted the 2015 Northeast Shrine Fall Field Days in Lewiston-Auburn for the first time ever. The opportunity only comes our way once every 15 years.
As a member of the organizing committee, I express my personal thanks to the officials of Lewiston and Auburn, the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, the area hotels (we had 325 rooms), all of the local merchants and, especially, the communities of Lewiston-Auburn for all the support they gave that event.
Guests came from all over New England and Canada, and all they could say on Sunday was “great time … well organized … friendly people … just a perfect weekend.” I think that speaks volumes to the opportunities this area has to host similar events.
Things are changing in L-A, and for the better.
While I do not have any official numbers, I feel quite confident that this event had a positive impact on the local economy. Our goal, right from the beginning, was to showcase L-A as a destination for our guests. With everyone’s help, I think we accomplished that goal.
Thanks again for a great weekend, and we will do it again in 2030.
