BETHEL — Maine School Administrative District 44 Continuing Education has announced upcoming courses.
1-2-3 Magic Parenting Class — Community Concepts will teach a simple yet effective technique to help parents get kids to stop doing what they don’t want them to do and to start doing what they want them to do. It will teach parents to encourage positive behavior, independence, and self-esteem to help foster a child’s growth and development. This class is recommended for parents with children ages 2 to 12 years. Snacks will be provided. The course will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 7, 14 and 21, at Telstar High School, Room 133. Tuition is free.
Defensive Driving Course — Maine’s “Driving Dynamics Course” offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. This five-hour course will include discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. Eddy Naples a certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor teaches the course. The course format engages students with lectures, videos, and class discussion/participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record. This class will help drivers develop better driving habits whether you drive a car, an RV, light truck, or tractor trailer. Insurance discounts are a possibility. The course is offered to the public. The instructor will be Eddy Naples, and the class will run from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Telstar High School, Room 133. The tuition is $40, which includes the registration fee and all course materials.
Energy Medicine for Your Health: An Introduction to Polarity Therapy — This workshop will include: an overview about Energy Medicine — what it is and how it fits into the 21st Century health care system. It will teach about the energy medicine modality called Polarity Therapy and its benefits for supporting health and well-being. Polarity Therapy works to restore balance and wholeness by utilizing gentle touch to direct the body’s healing energy to specific areas in the body. Benefits include relief from chronic health issues, maintaining wellness, energy and focus, and strengthening the immune system. Throughout the workshop, Instructor Emily Ecker will integrate this information with take-home self-care techniques including the Polarity pathway, called the Star pathway which can bring relaxation, balance and a greater sense of well-being. The course will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, Monday, Oct. 19, at Telstar High School, Room 131. Tuition is $10.
