LIVERMORE — The Village Scrappers of Livermore have decided to take on a portion of the ABC Quilt Project after discussions with Maine Chairwoman Connie Warren.

The group has been involved with the project since 1995 and offered to assist with quilt distribution in Western Maine. The area includes hospitals in Farmington, Rumford and Lewiston.

The group is covering Fire and Rescue for Jay, Livermore Falls, Fayette and Livermore. This year the group delivered more than 70 quilts to these facilities, and quilts and blankets were made for anyone, from newborns to teenagers.

The ABC Quilts Project was formed in 1988 to provide quilts for babies who were abandoned due to substance abuse or HIV/AIDs infections. The program has evolved to include any baby or child in need.

Although each quilt is personally signed by the maker with the message “Love and comfort to you from…” there is no knowledge of who receives the quilt, nor personal delivery of the quilt to a specific child.

This is an ongoing project with quilts supplied to locations as needed.

Other quilt groups or individuals who would like to be part of this project may email Karen at: [email protected], or Doreen at: [email protected].
