FARMINGTON — Police said a Temple man faces charges after failing to stop for an officer Sunday morning.
James Mackin, 27, was arrested on charges of failing to stop for an officer, attaching false plates and driving with a suspended registration.
Police said Mackin was getting gasoline at Madore’s Market in West Farmington just before 10 a.m. when Farmington officer Derrick Doucette pulled into the station. Doucette noticed Mackin acted strange when he saw the officer.
While Mackin went to pay for the gas, Doucette checked his license plate number, according to the police report. Mackin was driving a 2000 Buick sedan but the plates were registered for a Chevrolet pickup truck, the report said.
When Mackin came out of the store, Doucette approached him to talk with him, but Mackin got into the car and took off west on Route 43/Temple Road. He turned left onto Morrison Hill Road and stopped near the road to the ski slope.
Mackin did not have a valid registration for the vehicle, according to the report.
He was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center and released on $750 cash bail.
