AUGUSTA — Karen Scott Holman Sweatt, 70, a longtime resident of Mexico, passed away on Friday, Oct. 2, at her son Raymond’s home in Augusta following a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford on May 24, 1945, a daughter of Reginald and Arlene (Plante) Scott.

Karen was educated in Rumford Schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and loved visiting with her family and friends.

Karen loved knitting, playing beano, watching game shows and her trips to the casino in Atlantic City.

She is survived by her children, Raymond L. Holman III and fiancée, Lisa Sparrow, of Augusta, Scott S. Holman of Rumford, James H. Holman and fiancée, Audrey Coffin, of Westbrook, Melissa A. Holman and husband, Brian Sicotte, of Rumford, Randell J. Holman of Dixfield; her sisters, Barbara Morse of Peru, Susan Gallant and husband, George, of Dixfield and Florida; her brother, Gregory Scott of Florida; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Karen was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Raymond L. Holman Jr.; and two brothers, David Scott and Richard Scott.

The family said she will be remembered for her big kind heart and sense of humor.
