LEWISTON — Rebekah Leonard will make her debut at the Franco Center with acclaimed Maine pianist Mark Howard at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.
Leonard is a versatile singing talent who recently moved to Maine. Along with a soaring, bright and agile opera voice, Leonard is accomplished in singing jazz music with an affinity for the Dixieland style.
For her Franco Center and Maine debut, she selected her favorite music in a wide variety of musical styles and languages ranging from classical opera favorites to modern classics. The songs tell a subtle story of her life and love of music.
Mark Howard studied music at Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio, English literature at Bates College and education at the University of Maine. He particularly enjoys studying and performing music of past cultures, accompanying vocal soloists, a wide range of chamber music and art history. He lives in Portland and has worked as a private and public school teacher and church organist.
