WILTON — The Board of the Western Maine Play Museum is sharing an update on the museum’s financial status, renovation plans and to inform the community of activities planned in November.

In just a little more than a year, community businesses and individuals have contributed to the museum’s fundraising drive. Many business supporters have stepped up to become leaders in this community venture, and hundreds of individual donors have also demonstrated their commitment to make the vision a reality.

With this surge of community support, the museum has only a $150,000 gap remaining to be raised before renovations can begin on the building. It is hoped that work can begin early in 2016, with a goal of opening during the summer of 2016.

Many people have already purchased naming rights for the rooms in the main part of the house, though a few rooms are still left. For more information as to which rooms are still available, go to: www.westernmaineplay.org.

The museum has several activities coming up.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, there will be a benefit concert featuring the Celtic harp group, String Beings. This year’s performance will be held at the First Congregational Church of Wilton and will also feature the Merry Plinksters, a ukulele group popular in the area. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Also planned for Nov. 21 is a Paint and Sip event to be held at the Turner Highlands Golf Club, 10 Highland Ave. #B, Turner. The activity will begin at 6 p.m.

Participants will be given painting materials and will receive step-by-step instruction from Susan Begin of Cre8tive Events to create their own painting to take home. Easels, brushes, paints and canvas will be provided. Cheese and crackers will be served and a cash bar will be available.

There is a $40 a person entry fee. Space is limited. Respond to Nicole Knowles at 207-357-1209 or [email protected].
