RUMFORD — 49 Franklin’s Mystic Theater and Paper Moon Players announce auditions for their upcoming holiday production, “A Christmas Story,” by Philip Grecian.

The tale is based on the motion picture and book, “In God We Trust, All others Pay Cash,” by Jean Shepherd. In 1940s Indiana, 9-year-old Ralphie Parker dreams of his ideal Christmas gift, a genuine Red Ryder 200-shot carbine action air rifle. When his parents say no, Ralphie mounts a full-scale, hint-dropping, Santa-begging campaign.

Needed for the production are two men, two women, five boys and two girls. The characters include Ralph (as a boy and a man), his mother and father, his 7-year-old brother, his teacher and three classmates. The cast may be expanded depending on those auditioning.

“A Christmas Story” will be directed by Keith A. Grassette, assisted by Hope Fallon and produced by Cindy and Scot Grassette.

Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 and 19. Rehearsals will be at 6 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. Production dates are Dec. 12 and 13, and 18 and 19 at Mystic Theater, 49 Franklin St.
