RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1960 will hold its monthly class luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Gatch’s Restaurant. All classmates and guests are welcome.

Otisfield Harvest Dance announced

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Volunteer Firefighter’s Association’s 12th annual Harvest Dance will be from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121.

The Portside Groove Band will perform rock and roll music. The cost is $10 a person.

The dance is the major fundraiser to support the association’s involvement in the community with events such as Fire Prevention Week, the Otisfield Winter Carnival and 4th of July celebration. The money raised also helps support the fire department and first responders through education scholarships and purchasing needed equipment.

Tree farm to host tour on Oct. 17

DIXFIELD — The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will tour Ben Welch’s Addin’ Rings Tree Farm at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

The focus will be to look at the management of the woodlot through the years, especially Welch’s firewood harvesting and layout of trails for firewood harvesting for the small landowner.

Topics discussed will include measuring tree volume with prism and basal area, how to cut a tree with five points of information, what to leave for trees, computing rate of growth using increment borer, wildlife trees, tractor safety when harvesting firewood and thinning, pruning and weeding saws.

The event is free and open to the public.

CPR, first aid class to be held in Oxford

OXFORD — There will be a CPR and first aid class at the Oxford Public Safety Building at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

Attendees will learn basic first aid, adult, child and infant CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator. After successfully completing the one-day class, participants will receive a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association.

The certificate course is accepted for day care, loggers, guides, teachers and any other nonhealthcare-related professions. Groups may also request to schedule a class at their location and convenience.

The next class after this will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.

Legion supper third Saturday of month

LIVERMORE FALLS — George Bunten, Post 10, American Legion, 17 Reynolds Ave., will host a bean and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

Proceeds support veterans and their programs. The suppers are always the third Saturday of the month.

Last supper of season at church

HARRISON — The Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church will hold its last “famous” chicken pie supper of the season Saturday, Oct. 17, at the church in Bolsters Mills Village.

There will be two sittings, at 5 and 6 p.m. with a third to follow at 7 p.m. if needed. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children younger than 12. Dinner includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, rolls, homemade dessert and beverages, served family-style.

Although walk-ins are welcome, it is recommended that reservations be made the morning of the supper between 9 a.m. and noon. Call 207-583-9024 during those hours for confirmation. Do not leave a message.

The suppers will return next spring. The church is wheelchair accessible.
