AUBURN — Bob Mennealy plans to seek his old seat on the City Council after a five-year break from local politics.

Mennealy is one of five candidates seeking the two open at-large seats. He served from 2002-09.

In a written statement, Mennealy said he wants to finalize plans for a new high school, increase citizen support for the Auburn School Department and promote economic growth. He also wants to see the city treat the newly built Norway Saving Bank Arena as an asset.

Mennealy has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in public administration. He is married with two grown children.
