Schooner Estates to host craft fair
AUBURN — The Arts and Crafts Committee of Schooner Estates Senior Living Community will host its annual holiday craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Village Green.
A number of outside vendors will participate and all proceeds will go to the Camp Sunshine Scholarship Fund. Raffle tickets for several handmade items will be for sale and there will be a free book table.
All are welcome.
Tommy’s Feral Felines to hold bottle drive
LEWISTON — Tommy’s Feral Feline will hold its harvest bottle drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Sports Trader, 707 Main St.
Tommy’s Feral Felines is an all-volunteer, no-kill organization, which receives no official funding and relies solely on the donations and the income generated by its fundraising events.
Tommy’s staff works 365 days a year to support abandoned cats that live a feral existence. In addition to feeding and sheltering the cats, Tommy’s provides spaying and neutering, vaccinations and other medical care to the animals, many of which are too many generations feral to be adoptable.

Environmental Resource Committee Display
NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Environmental Resource Committee has a display at the New Gloucester Public Library on low-cost ways to save money on energy bills during October.
Information about rebates, energy audits for the home, and a checklist for evaluating a home are available. Those who submit their name in a drop box in front of the display will be eligible to win one of seven items in a drawing at the end of October.
The librarian can loan a device to measure the energy output of various electronic devices. This will help evaluate the need to replace them with more efficient appliances as well as serve as a reminder to save electrical use in other ways.

Greene church to hold first fall festival
GREENE — The Greene Baptist Church is inviting the community to its first-ever fall festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at 102 Main St.
There will be fun and games for the whole family, along with face-painting and crafts. Treasure seekers are invited to the yard giveaway, where everything is free.
There will be music and free food. The festival will be held rain or shine.

Farmland Access Conference
NEW GLOUCESTER — The Maine Farmland Trust has announced that a Farmland Access Conference, in partnership with Land for Good and American Farmland Trust, will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the Commons, Pineland Farms.
The conference will highlight the obstacles and opportunities to help farmers, landowners and communities get farmers on the land and keep land in farming.
