FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Players’ will hold auditions for “The Sound of Music,” from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, in Nordica Auditorium on the University of Maine Farmington campus. Auditions will also be held from from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in Lincoln Auditorium, also on the UMF campus. Auditioners need to attend only one of the three sessions.
Directors Robin Lisherness and Karen West and music directors Jane Parker and Laura Church are requesting that everyone who wishes to audition for a singing role be prepared to sing a song of their choice; an accompanist will be provided, or one a song they can sing a cappella. Those auditioning for a singing role or chorus also will be asked to sing a short selection from the musical which will be taught to everyone first. All those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. The directors wish to emphasize that there are several nonsinging roles, as well.
“The Sound of Music” will be performed in UMF’s Alumni Theatre Jan. 14 through 23.
The musical will be produced in conjunction with the Mt. Blue High School theatre, and volunteers throughout the community will be needed for support staff, particularly for costume and set construction.
