PORTLAND — Michael and Michelle Mitchell of Tilton, N.H., will bring their comic book creations to the Portland Comic Expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Portland Expo on 239 Park Ave.

The Mitchells, formerly of Fayette, Maine, will join dozens of other comic book artists and creators joining together to create a fun-filled, family friendly comic book convention.

Mitchell and his wife formed their own comic company in 2013 to market their primary title, Zombie Sub-920, a dystopian tale of a world invaded by aliens from space who spread a zombie-like virus in an effort to wipe out mankind. In this story, however, the zombies have been made the good guys for a change when they are given a serum to restore some of their humanity. Thus enabled, they are soon pressed into the military to help stave off the invasion. In the context of the story, readers are introduced to one particular group of zombie servicemen serving aboard the last submarine on Earth.

In addition to selling comics, the Mitchells make cameo appearances in each comic. Michael Mitchell is drawn in as the submarine Captain Walters, and Michelle Mitchell as nurse Maggie O’Brien. The couple dresses as their alter-egos when attending comic conventions.

In addition to their regular series, now up to issue No. 7, the Mitchells have also branched into a bit of New England folklore with the launch of their latest comic, UFOs Over Exeter. This comic re-tells the famous UFO sightings in Exeter, N.H., in 1965. The couple took their book to the Exeter UFO Festival recently, an annual event to raise money for children’s hospitals and to celebrate the famous sightings, where it became a highly sought souvenir that continues to sell well at bookstores all over New Hampshire.

The new UFO book and all issues of Zombie Sub-920 will be available for purchase during the Portland Comic Expo, and the Mitchells will autograph purchased copies.

The cost of admission is $5.
