JAY — The Spruce Mountain school community will hold a benefit supper and raffles on Saturday, Oct. 17, to help Mary Ross and her family pay for expenses relating to her late husband’s battle with cancer.
Mary Ross, an educational technician, works at Livermore Elementary School. Her husband, Francis “Skip” Ross, was diagnosed with stage III lung cancer in 2013 and treated with chemotherapy and radiation until the cancer traveled to his brain, pancreas and other organs. He died Aug. 22.
He left behind his wife, their sons, Joshua, Branden and Dillon, and grandson, Nicholas.
Ross and her family need support in handling Skip’s remaining medical expenses.
The benefit, organized by Spruce Mountain High School teacher Diane Maurais, is being held to offer community support for the family.
There will be a lasagna supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at the high school on Community Drive. There will be rolls/butter, salad and a choice of dessert. The cost is $5 per person, $3 for children younger than 5.
There will also be a handmade quilt and other quilted items raffled off. Tickets are being sold at the high school’s main office or Room 106. The cost is $2 each or three tickets for $5.
There will also be basket raffles the night of benefit. The cost is $10 for 25 tickets.
