OLD ORCHARD BEACH (AP) — A leukemia survivor who has endured extensive chemotherapy, survived a coma and is falling blind in one eye overcame another obstacle to give his daughter a wedding in Maine that she’ll never forget.

Ralph Duquette and his daughter, Heather, previously agreed he didn’t have the strength to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

But on Oct. 10, Ralph Duquette was helped out of his wheelchair in Old Orchard Beach and did just that — in front of 75 friends and relatives.

Duquette uses a wheelchair, but he worked with physical therapists over the summer to gain the strength to walk Heather down the aisle.

Heather Duquette tells WCSH-TV her father performed the ceremony and gave her away. The two also danced together for their father-daughter dance.
