Luke Sterling Scores a Goal From a Flip Throww
In case you missed it, UMF men’s soccer freshman Luke Sterling scored a goal on Sunday with a flip throw. From the sideline, Sterling flipped a towering pass that deflected off Green Mountain’s keeper for the goal. UMF won the North Atlantic Conference meeting, 8-1.

Sterling, who was known to have a strong flip-throw as a senior for the Red Eddies, has continued using that skill as a freshman at UMaine-Farmington this season.
On Sunday, he scored a goal — directly off a throw-in — against Green Mountain College in the first half of an 8-1 win.
The school’s athletic department posted a video of the goal to its Facebook page, and Tuesday the school received a message via Twitter from ESPN’s assignment desk asking the school if the network could use the video on its TV and digital platforms.
The school gave the network permission, and asked when the clip might air, to which ESPN replied: “Keep a look out for it on the later SC (SportsCenter) shows tonight (Tuesday) and other shows throughout the day on Wednesday.”
