RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Rumford Town Hall auditorium. A short business meeting will be followed by a historical program and light refreshments.

There will be a roundtable discussion of the bridges and ferries that once crossed the Androscoggin River from Hanover to Dixfield. Facilitators will be Chris Howe, Hanover; Robert and Carol Putnam-Parise, Rumford Point, East Rumford, Rumford; Jane Welch-Peterson, Rumford Center; Lorraine Legere, Mexico; and Robert and Shirley Dolloff, Peru-Dixfield.

Members, guests and the public are asked to bring their old photos and memories of any of the ferries or bridges. The society would appreciate a willingness to have pictures photographed for the archives collection.

New members are welcome and may join the society for an individual membership fee of $10.

Enter and exit the building via the River Street entrance by the Rumford Police Department.
