BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center will host a pre-Halloween party with a maritime flair at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

The event will feature The Squid Jiggers with two opening acts for a full evening of hauntingly festive musical storytelling and sea chanteys.

The Squid Jiggers serve up high-energy folk music. Inveterate music-entertainers, Dave Rowe and Troy R. Bennett combine their talents on guitar, bass, bodran, and tin whistles to back their robust vocal harmonies. Their music can be heard at www.squidjiggers.com.

“We are excited to present something different for a maritime-themed pre-Halloween party with a nod to our shipbuilding history,” said Jennifer DeChant, Chocolate Church Arts Center executive director. “The performance lineup is fun and diverse by showcasing local and regional musical talent.”

The Maine Maritime Museum’s Lobstermobile will be available for photos, and audience members are encouraged to dress in nautical attire to be eligible for door prizes and raffles. There will also be a cash bar.

The jam-packed evening will begin with The Montsweagers, a nine-member group from Woolwich, who have a wide scope of music, including Celtic tunes, old time Americana and roots music. Then Alison Lee Freeman, who specializes in sea chanteys, will take the stage to do a set of American folk songs and parlor music from the 1800s.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $24 at the door. They are available by calling the box office 207-442-8455 or by visiting www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
