Woman’s Literary Union events
AUBURN — Members and guests of the Woman’s Literary Union celebrated the 117th year of the organization on Sunday, Oct. 18.
The WLU will host its first-ever Halloween Party Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Spaces are still available in all sessions. FMI: 207-782-7787.
The group will host a Pink Ribbon/Girl Scout Tea to recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. The day is also the birthday of Juliette Low, founder of the Girl Scouts of America. All Girl Scouts are invited to come and share their stories to help celebrate. Low died from breast cancer.
Harvest Festival Saturday
LISBON FALLS — Children have the opportunity to show off their non-scary costume at the Lisbon Harvest Festival from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the MTM Center, 18 School St.
Free activities include a family pumpkin carving contest with cash prizes, a pie eating contest for kids and adults, and a creepy, crawly display by the Butterfly and Insect Museum.
The festival also offers children’s activities such as a bounce house, cake walk, spider toss, pumpkin bowling and other activities run by Lisbon nonprofits. Food and drinks will also be served, including warm gingerbread cake made by the Lisbon Falls United Methodist Church. This annual event is organized by Positive Change Lisbon.

Holiday craft fair planned
ABURN — The Lady Debra Third Christmas Craft Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the VFW on Minot Ave.

UMC to host Fall Festival
AUBURN — The United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave., will host a Fall Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
Crafts, activities and face painting are back by popular demand. Mr. Drew and His Animals, Too, will be at the event. Everyone is welcome.

Barney Frank talk cancelled
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library has announced that due to personal reasons, Congressman Barney Frank has cancelled his book talk at LPL, which was scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25. The Library plans to re-schedule Frank’s program later this year.
The LPL Sunday Author Series will resume at 1p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, with Doug Hodgkin speaking on his new book, “Lewiston Politics in the Gilded Age: 1863-1900.” The Series is being co-sponsored and supported by the Friends of LPL.

Hydrotherapy class Oct. 25
TURNER — Randy and Heather Emerson will offer a free class, Introduction to Hydrotherapy, from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Turner Seventh Day Adventist Church, 106 Weston Road.
Class participants will learn how to do simple at-home treatments using water. Light refreshments will be served. Donations will be accepted.
Cemetery Association to meet
AUBURN — The North Auburn Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at 625 North Auburn Road.
