CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Two New Hampshire properties formerly owned by a couple of tax evaders are back on the auction block after being heavily marketed to potential buyers.
The auction of Ed and Elaine Brown’s former properties is scheduled to get underway Thursday morning in federal court in Concord.
Any proceeds from properties — including the 100-acre Plainfield compound where they held federal marshals at bay during a nine-month armed standoff in 2007 — will go toward hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes owed to Plainfield and Lebanon. Also being auctioned is Elaine Brown’s former dental office in Lebanon.
The properties have been heavily marketed by a branch of the IRS that specializes in forfeiture auctions.
An auction last year drew no bidders.
