LIVERMORE — A Phillips man escaped injury when he lost control of a tractor-trailer on the Crash Road and it overturned early Monday morning, Maine State Police Trooper Daniel Hanson said.

The load of wood sheathing hauled by Ronald Veilleux, 54, was spilled, and the 2016 Volvo truck registered to Hartt Transportation Systems of Auburn was heavily damaged, Hanson said.

Hanson said Veilleux was driving south on the newly paved road and navigating S-turns. The truck got into loose gravel on the shoulder of a curve and he tried to re-enter the road, but the truck rolled onto the passenger side.

Veilleux was not hurt, he said.

The crash occurred about 6 a.m., closing the road for four hours for cleanup.

Hanson was assisted by Trooper Eric Paquette and firefighters from Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.
