WILTON — Franklin County Hypnosis is moving from its current location at 335 Main St. to a space a few doors down in the same building as of Nov. 1.

Dawn Jepson, who operates Franklin County Hypnosis with her husband, Dennis, said, “We, along with the help of the building’s manager, are in the process of constructing two offices so we can see people at the same time.”

She noted that the space is larger and will give them more room to work. The phone number, 645-5000, will stay the same.

Call in order to schedule an appointment. People are also welcome to stop by and ask questions.

As Dawn and Dennis talked about the upcoming move, they reflected upon their careers as consulting hypnotists. Dawn holds an alternative doctoral degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy and is registered with the National Guild of Hypnotists as a Consulting Hypnotist. She also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services and an Associate Degree in Mental Health.

Dawn specializes in weight and stress management. She has had a hypnosis practice for more than 17 years providing private and group sessions as well as offering classes and public presentations where she has hypnotized groups of over 30 people.

Dennis is also a Consulting Hypnotist, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. He has spent many years developing a successful smoking cessation program. Having practiced hypnosis for more than 17 years, he has hypnotized hundreds of individuals. Both Dawn and Dennis have more than 10 years experience with Tapping/EFT.

Their journey in the profession began after Dawn attended a seminar in Boston.

“I said I’d go and do paperwork,” Dennis recalled. “We had another business at the time. I decided to stick around and enjoy it with her. It progressed from there.”

“Dennis convinced me it was something I could do,” said Dawn. “We really never have looked back since then.”

Hypnosis is deep relaxation and can benefit everyone. Also, not only is hypnosis a process for applying and instituting change and transformation, it is also a technique which can allow a person to access the wisdom and information stored within their unconscious mind.

As stated on the Franklin County Hypnosis website at www.franklincountyhypnosis.com: “In reality, we all experience “hypnotic-like” states each day: when daydreaming, just before coming fully awake or falling asleep, and whenever using that “unconscious pilot”, as when driving a well-known road or performing a familiar task. Hypnosis assists in making any change quicker, more pleasant and, when combined with repetition, often more lasting.”

Hypnosis can help people with all kinds of behavior changes using hypnosis: weight, smoking and fears; improving confidence; managing stress and anger; focusing to enhance memory, academic performance and sports ability are some of the areas in which hypnosis has been successful. Lately, there has been a growing interest in the successful use of hypnosis with regression for healing and self exploration.

Past Life Regression sessions are available from Franklin County Hypnosis.

Both Dennis and Dawn emphasize that they work in conjunction with doctors who refer people to them.

“We are not alternative health care,” Dawn summarized. “We are complementary health care.”

She said that they spend countless hours talking with prospective clients on the phone about their lives and asking if hypnosis is the right thing for them.

“We screen every person we talk to,” Dennis added. “It helps it to be more successful.”

By getting to know people beforehand, they are able to use their time and their clients’ time productively and efficiently.

“Even though we’ve been here (in Wilton) since 2002, there’s a great many people who think of hypnosis as the antithesis of what it’s about,” said Dennis. “Very often, we’re a last resort, when people are desperate to change. The most important thing is helping people.”
