1926 – 2015

AUBURN — Conrad B. Dan, 89, a resident of Auburn, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 31, at Clover Health Care, following a long illness.

He was born in Livermore, the son of Frank and Eva (Briggs) Drake, and adopted as a young boy by Henry and Mary Dan of Mechanic Falls.

Conrad was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served on the U.S.S. Lumen. Following the war, he married the former Bessie Goldsmith on June 12, 1948, and together they raised their family in Auburn.

After a career in the local shoe industry, he established his own business, CB Appliance, in Auburn, where he was known for helping young growing families to have the best of appliances. He was also known never to have missed a day of work.

Survivors include two sons, Larry and wife, Karen, of Sumner, and Ronald of Gray; three sisters, Myrtle (Terry) Bennett of Florida, Rosella Walker and Nancy Winslow, both of Norway. Also surviving are three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Bessie; and several sisters.

The family would like to thank all the caring staff of Clover Health Care, where he had resided the past seven years, and to Margaret, his nurse from Androscoggin Home Health & Hospice.
