LIVERMORE FALLS — A community resource fair will be held to serve Verso workers and the greater community Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Murray Hall on Main Street.
The United Way of the Tri-Valley Area, Maine Department of Labor, the Wilton CareerCenter and Western Maine Community Action are collaborating on the fair that will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., according to a news release.
More than 40 vendors representing education, health care, financial services, health and human services, government and employers have committed to attend the fair.
Among the resources to be offered are health care/insurance services, educational opportunities, veterans services, employment and training opportunities, starting or growing your own business, financial resources, community resources and retirement options.
Verso Corp. announced in August that it will permanently eliminate 300 jobs. Workers are expected to lose their jobs in mid-December. Verso also offered eligible, hourly employees an early-retirement incentive.
“The United Way is pleased to be helping convene this resource fair to help connect individuals and their families to resources during this difficult time,” Lisa Laflin, executive director of the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area, said in a release.
Whether it is employment with companies such as Cianbro that will be on-site, or educational opportunities ranging from Central Maine Community College to adult education, there will be something for everyone, she said.
Information about health care options has been frequently requested since the workforce-reduction announcement, and there will be well-informed representatives there to assist attendees with health care and insurance questions, she said.

The resource fair is made possible by support from United Way, Franklin Savings Bank and Western Mountain Financial Services.

An additional opportunity for affected workers and their families will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Mt. Blue High School at the Mt. Blue Campus in Farmington.
