The committee is hard at work and is accepting donations for these families. We realize times continue to be challenging, so it is important to remember the children. We were able to help 65 families that included 114 children, and three elderly couples through your generous contributions last year. Your consideration is appreciated.

In addition to money, we are accepting new clothing, mittens, hats, gloves, games, puzzles, school supplies, and books for kids of all ages which can be left at one of the Monmouth schools. If you choose to donate money, a check can be written to the Cottrell-Taylor Christmas Basket Fund. If possible, the committee would like contributions on or before Thursday, Dec. 3, but will gratefully accept them at a later date.  Monetary donations may be mailed to: Laurie Gifford, P.O. Box 218, Monmouth, ME 04259.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are seeking memorabilia from current and former Grace Lutheran Church in Auburn members for a display at our 100th anniversary celebration. We began in 1915 when Germans living in Lewiston organized a church. They built the stone church that was near Central Maine Medical Center until it was recently torn down. Now we are located on Summer Street in Auburn near Whiting’s.

We would like to invite anyone who is or was a member at any time over the years to participate in the celebration that will take place May 14-15, 2016. Everyone is welcome to attend services at any time since we will be celebrating this anniversary throughout the coming months.

For more information, call the church at 207-782-9697 or Rosita Friel at 207-743-4668. Thank you Sun Spots for all you do to help people and groups in the L/A area. — Rosita Friel.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On behalf of Waterford Grange # 479, I would like to again ask for your aid. We have a pair of hospital-style bed railings that we are making available to anyone who can use them. Any one interested can call Mary at 207-583-4490 or Sharon at07-928-2878.

I would like to thank all the wonderful people out there who helped make our ongoing craft and yard sale a success. Thank you to all the people who flocked to our sales and to all those who donated. A special thanks to the Norway-Paris Fish and Game for their generous contribution. Thank you, Sunspots, for helping to get the word out and helping us earn the money to support our local charities and make needed repairs to our building. — Mary DeLorenzo, Waterford Grange #479.
