FARMINGTON — Funeral Services honoring the life of Julia M. Small were held on Friday, Oct. 23, at New Hope Baptist Church in Farmington, with her son, the Rev. Edward Small officiating, and the Rev. Brian Rebert co-officiating.

The service began with an opening prayer and scripture read by Rev. Rebert and the congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Special music included a solo, “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” sung by her son, Richard Small; and Julia’s friend, Maurice Hovey, played “He Washed My Eyes with Tears” on the harmonica. Many people in attendance shared stories and remembrances of Julia, and more special music followed with “My Father Planned It All” by Ed Small, and “Amazing Grace” was played by Sandi Rebert on the harp. The service ended with the congregation singing “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” and the closing prayer with Rev. Rebert.

Immediately following the service, all were welcome to stay for a reception being held downstairs at the church hall. The burial took place at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.

Arrangements were in the care of Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High St., Wilton.
