CARRABASSETT VALLEY — More than $19,000 raised by Sugarloaf employees and matched by Sugarloaf Mountain Corporation will be distributed to seven community organizations this month.

The beneficiaries will be:

• United Way of the Tri-Valley Area

• Stratton School: art program and pre-K/K classroom enrichment

• Maine Mountain Children’s House

• Kingfield Elementary School and PTG: 1st grade cooking class and Stage Adventures Program

• Rangeley Friends of the Performing Arts

• Mt. Blue Middle School: Teen Voices Program

• Stratton/Eustis Food Pantry

The funds come from the Sugarloaf Region Charitable Trust, a private, nonprofit trust dedicated to improving the quality of life for the communities that make up the Sugarloaf area. The trust provides financial assistance to organizations with nonprofit, tax-exempt status. The goal is to encourage the growth in existing human service and cultural organizations and to develop new organizations that will involve and improve the Sugarloaf area.
