VFW Post 9150 to meet

LEWISTON — The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Lewiston Armory.

All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

Awards will be presented to the Lewiston High School AF Jr. ROTC students who won Voice of Democracy Essays and Lewiston Middle School students who won Patriot Pen essays.

First Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Green Ladle in Lewiston for the Thanksgiving Dinner. A special Pot of Gold drawing will be held.

There were 34 members present at the last meeting. Attendance winners were Virginia Trafford and Diane Vincent. Pot of Gold winners were Donald Doyon, Lucie Cowles and Sally Gagnon. Winners of the 50-50 raffle were Lorraine Raymond and Mary Ray.

Federal employees to meet

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Chapter 1804 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Ramada Inn.

A social time will be followed by lunch at noon and the business meeting.

Neighborhood Watch meeting planned

AUBURN — A Neighborhood Watch meeting for Auburn residents will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Tailgate Gourmet on South Main Street. 

This meeting time is a change due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 26. 

The neighborhood Watch Committee is sponsored by the Auburn Police Department. 

Great Falls Forum: Penobscot Nation chief

LEWISTON — The Great Falls Forum lecture series will present Penobscot Nation Chief Kirk Francis from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.

The chief will present “Penobscot Tribal Sovereignty and the Maine Environment.”

St. Anne Sodality hosting Noel Gala

LEWISTON — The Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of Holy Family, Prince of Peace Parish, will host a Noel Gala from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Parish Hall at 607 Sabattus St.

There will be a book signing with Mark Griffin, author of “Life & Films of Vincente Minnelli.”

A lunch of Italians, hot dogs and beverages will be served. Homemade desserts will be sold at the bake sale.

Beaver Park Christmas wreath workshops

LISBON — Beaver Park will offer four Christmas wreath workshops.

The workshops are Friday and Monday, Nov. 20 and 23, and Tuesday and Friday, Dec. 1 and 4.

All workshops run from 6 to 9 p.m. and are held at the lodge at Beaver Park, 37 Cotton Road.

Boughs will be cut from the park for participants to make their own wreath to decorate their homes with. Supplies including bows and pine cones will be available.

Holiday show, sale in Pownal

POWNAL — Bradbury Mountain Arts 17 annual Holiday Show and Sale of fine art and crafts will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Mallet Hall, Pownal Center.

Media includes painting, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, sailcloth bags, turned-wood, photography, printmaking and  paper arts.

Bean supper is Nov. 21

NEW GLOUCESTER — AMVETS Post 6 will host a bean supper the third Saturday of the month from 5 to 6 p.m.

Cost of the meal is $7 for adults, $3 for kids younger than 12, and free for children younger than 6.

Congregational Church fair Nov. 21

AUBURN — The Parish Guild at High Street Congregational Church will hold its Christmas Fair and Chowder Luncheon from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. Use the entrance at 106 Pleasant St.

Handmade gifts, knit items, country store, jams and jellies will be featured, as well as handmade candies and baked goods and other local vendors. The luncheon will feature corn chowder and johnny cake.

Christmas in the Village

CASCO — The Casco Village Church, United Church of Christ, 941 Meadow Road, will host its Christmas in the Village fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.

There will be a variety of vendors, wreaths, a raffle, music and special rooms filled with Christmas cheer, including Christmas Recycled, Grandma’s Attic, Wings ‘N Things Clothing & Accessories and Jewels & Glitter.

Lobster rolls and a corn chowder luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Harvest dinner planned for Nov. 21

AUBURN — The West Auburn Congregational Church will hold its annual Harvest Dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in the vestry located right nest to the church at 811 West Auburn Road.

The buffet will include turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, turnip, carrots, cranberry sauce, homemade rolls and a variety of homemade pies.

The cost for adults is $8, children ages 5 to 12 are $4 and free for kids younger than 5. The proceeds from the supper will be used towards the restoration of the steeple on the 1791 church building.

Bean, chop suey supper

AUBURN — The Andy Valley Knights of Columbus, Council 8742, will hold a bean and American chop suey supper from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Sacred Heart Church on the corner of Minot and Western avenues.

Admission will be $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and younger.  

Supper includes hot dogs, cole slaw, bread, dessert and a beverage.
