1942 – 2015

AUBURN — Dorothy A. Smith, 73, a resident of Wales passed away after a short illness on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Lewiston, May 27, 1942, the daughter of Edward W. and Lorraine I. Lefebvre Sellinger. Dorothy attended school in Wales and graduated from North Yarmouth high school. On Oct. 5, 1963, in Wales, Dorothy married Lewis M. Smith; Lewis passed away in 2011, after 48 years of marriage.

She worked as a dental assistant and later as a special ed tech for the Sabattus schools, retiring in 2006. She enjoyed craft fairs, sewing and gardening, being in the outdoors and doing everything with her sister-in-law, Ruth Travers.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Adam Smith and his wife, Tina, and Brian Smith and his wife, Melissa, all of Wales; her grandchildren, Gage and Emma Smith, Josh Howe and Krystle Coleman; great-grandchildren, Christina Coleman and Kylie and Leland Scholton.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Lorraine Sellinger; her husband, Lewis M. Smith; and her brother, Richard W. Sellinger Sr.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff on Oncology 4 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Dr. Mahesh Pandey and to the Auburn Hospice House for making her final days comfortable.
