CASCO (AP) — Officials say four canoeists were rescued from a Maine island after their canoe started taking on water.

Casco Fire Chief Jason Moen says three women and a man were out on Parker Pond in Casco around 3 p.m. Saturday when they realized the canoe had a hole in the bottom.

Moen says the four were somehow able to paddle the canoe to an island where they contacted authorities.

He says the Maine Warden Service used one of its boats to bring them to safety.

No injuries were reported.
