1941 – 2015
LEWISTON — Jean E. Arsenault, 74, of Rumford, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness, with loving family at her side.
She was born in Rumford on July 7, 1941, a daughter of Edward and Mary Margaret (McKellick) Gilks. Jean attended schools at Milton Plantation and Rumford.
She was a longtime resident of Milford, Mass., and was employed for many years with General Motors Corp. Jean and her husband Ernest moved back to Maine following retirement in 2003. She loved playing cards, reading and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Lynn Rolo and husband, Armando, of Milford, Mass., Daniel Arsenault and wife, Ann, of Tennessee, David Arsenault and wife, Tuyet, of Gray, Julie Chapman and husband, Cliff, of Rumford, and Paul Arsenault and companion, Alissa Trezzi, of Massachusetts; five sisters, Grace Farnum of Milton Plantation, Joanie Merchant and husband, Melvin, of Milford, Mass., Carol Daniels and husband, Ronald, of Texas, Barbara Roberts and husband, Ken, of Greenwood, and Gail Downs of Rumford; six brothers, George Gilks and Richard Gilks of Massachusetts, Joseph Gilks of Mechanic Falls, Donald Gilks, Kenneth Gilks, and Douglas Gilks, all of Rumford; seventeen grandchildren, Joe Carneiro, Kristine Carneiro, Kristen Arsenault, Karen Arsenault, Danny Arsenault Jr., Brian Germain II, Kyle Arsenault, Brandon Germain, Kevin Arsenault, Cliff Chapman II, Justin Chapman, Maverick Sanderson, Trezzie Ha, Tiffany Ha, Madison Jean Arsenault, Evan Arsenault, Aidan Arsenault; three great-great-grandchildren, Makayla Skerry, Charlie Arsenault and Arianna Skerry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ernest; a daughter, Paula; and two brothers, Edward and William.
