To say that I was truly delighted by the Sun Journal front-page coverage of the Lewiston-Scarborough soccer game played recently would be an understatement.

As I turned to the lower half of that page, I fully expected to see other top stories about Maine. But what did I find? Not one story concerning Maine. One was from New Orleans, La.; one from Camden, N.J.; and one from Clyde, N.C. And no good news among them.

Cynthia Phinney deserved the front page. So did the story about the former convent having a new mission. Even the meeting between the president of China and Taiwan.

Is that the best of Maine that can be done? And it wasn’t even Maine.
