LEWISTON — Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery, 140 Canal St., Lewiston, is now showing the fun and whimsical work of local artist Kellie Chasse.

Chasse was raised in Presque Isle and moved to coastal Brunswick in 1987. Now an Auburn resident, her interest in art sprouted from early childhood. Fascinated with the beauty of the landscape surrounding her coastal Maine home, coupled with her love and compassion for animals, she found all the inspiration needed to develop her artistic abilities.

It was painting with her mother, artist Shelby Crouse, that inspired her to paint when she was in high school. She started with abstract paintings, creating mood through bold colors and shapes. Her later use of soft lines and vibrant colors captures the realistic beauty of Maine.

Chasse is showing her “Love Tree” series — abstract paintings and Maine-themed cards — through November and December. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
