The center will recognize Winter Solstice from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. This is quiet time to reflect, read or just sit and enjoy nonverbal time as winter is welcomed. A light lunch will be provided. Those attending should sign up at the Center.

The regular end-of-month programs include an all-day clothing give-away Thursday, Dec. 17; bingo on Tuesday, Dec. 22; the Art Van will visit the Center on Wednesday, Dec. 23; and the December birthday celebration will be Wednesday, Dec. 23.

The Center’s fall hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays. It will close on Thursday, Dec. 24, and reopen on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

A full calendar of events and full description of all support groups is available on the Center’s website. All women are welcome, programs are offered free of charge, and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily and the Center has a shower available for use.

The Center continuously needs donations of hygiene items to give away, with numerous requests each month. Needed are full-size, unopened, basic items such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant and lotion. Unopened smaller sample sizes are accepted for use in outreach packs.

The Center is also seeking volunteer applicants for Companions. Companions are women with professional backgrounds in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or another related field. The commitment is a half-day each week. Those interested should contact Executive Director Klara Tammany at 207-513-3922.
