1935 – 2015

LEWISTON — John A. Ayotte, 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, Nov. 30, at Montello Manor.

John was born in Lewiston on Jan. 11, 1935, a son of the late Fernand Sr. and Martha (Gosselin) Ayotte.

John was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and was attending Mass at Holy Cross Church. He was also a member and past president of the Webber Avenue Club. He shared a loving marriage of 59 years with his wife, Georgette, of Lewiston. John enjoyed bowling very much and is even in both the Lewiston and Auburn Bowling Association Hall of Fame and the State of Maine 10 Pin Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He liked meeting for breakfast on Friday mornings with “the boys” from United Wheelchair and afterwards going golfing with them. John also owned and operated the former Tibie’s Restaurant in Lewiston.

John is survived by his wife; son, Timothy Ayotte and wife, Brenda, of Florida; daughter, Nancy Girouard and companion, Kimberly Beaudin, of Lewiston; brother, Wilfred Ayotte and wife, Beth, of Lewiston;  sister-in-law, Dee Ayotte of Georgia; six grandchildren, Anthony, Jon, Samantha, Jordan, Sadie and Eliza; and his great-granddaughter, Willow.

John is predeceased by his brother, Fernand Jr.; and his daughter, Catherine.
