OXFORD — An Oxford teenager was injured Thursday afternoon after she lost control of her car and it slammed into a tree next to Allen Hill Road, Oxford Police Lt. Michael Ward said.
Taylor Cantone, 17, was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway where she was treated and released.
Ward said Cantone was driving south near the Yeaton Swamp Road just after 2 p.m. when her 2003 Volkswagen Passat crossed the centerline while rounding a corner and crashed into a tree next to the northbound lane.
He said speed and road conditions were factors in the crash.
“She’s very lucky she didn’t get hurt, and very lucky nobody was coming the other way,” Ward said.
It is not known if Cantone was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Officer Daniel Hastings is investigating.
Russell and Sons Towing and Recovery towed the car from the scene.
