Two active groups in Old Town are coming together for a special event in the Waterfront Park this year. The Shoes-N-Shears 4H Club is joining the Old Town United Methodist Church to present “Joseph, Mary and a Baby…A Living Nativity”.
The free community event is scheduled for December 19 from 2-4 p.m. All of the animals in the nativity will be alive and handled by the local 4H group. People can expect to see children dressed as shepherds handling sheep, wise men on horseback and even Mary arriving on a donkey.
The Shoes N Shears 4H Club is well known in the area for their petting zoos, the last one being at Riverfest in September. The kids from both 4H and the Old Town United Methodist Church will be in costume, working with the animals to tell the story of the birth of Christ. People will be able to see the story unfold, pet the animals, enjoy hot chocolate and sing carols.
