FORT JACKSON, S.C. — U.S. Army Pvt. Nicholas G. Ames has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army’s mission, history, tradition, core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Ames is the son of James and Wendy Chapman and brother of Kody Ames, all of Lewiston.
He is a 2015 graduate of Lewiston High School.
