1960 – 2015

BOSTON — Delbert Ray Rogers Jr., 55, of Nantucket, Mass., died Dec. 3, at Mass General Hospital in Boston, after being struck by a vehicle.

He was born Nov. 2, 1960, in Albion, Mich., to Janice May Rogers and Delbert Rogers Sr. He worked as a trim carpenter for over 15 years, and before that as a pipefitter for over 10 years.

He loved dancing with the ladies, his “walkabouts,” nature and lounging beachside. His free spirit shined when he shared his gentle nature, leaving a mark on each life he touched; he loved unconditionally with his kind soul, and his big hugs.

He was predeceased by his father; sister, Tammy Heskett; and brother, Stephen Rogers.

He is survived by his mother, Janice May Rogers of Collierville, Tenn., whom he treasured; four sons, Jeremiah Daniel Gattis of Farmington, Zackary Rogers of Wilton, Ian Rogers of Granby, Colo. and Benjamin Rogers; nephew, Cheston Heskett and his sons; niece, Maegan Heskett Cutshaw of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Lily May and Rosalie Lynn Rogers; several beloved cousins; and three special lady friends, Michelle Casey-Riordan of Livermore Falls, Glenda Johnson of Homer, Mich. and Carol Jean Butler of Nantucket, Mass.

Special thanks to Mr. J.D. and Laura Bessey of Nantucket.
